Well, We Did It—We Painted AU/NZ Red for “The Heir of Night”!
You came from all over AU/NZ—with a few from as far afield as the US, Italy and Denmark, just for good measure—over 475 of you in fact, which is “some party” where I come from! All that virtual chocolate cake that Mary Victoria brought with her last night is definitely gone. 🙂
And you posted with enthusiasm as well, all to help me celebrate the launch of The Heir of Night into AU/NZ—put simply, you rock and I think we can agree that Heir is now well launched.
But it’s not all over yet.
Firstly, I now have to draw the winners of the giveaways and that will happen later today—given this is a big draw I thought it was important to have scrutineers on hand, both to ensure that every eligible name really does go into the “Sorting Hat” and that there is no foul interference (by Slytherin, of course) as the names are drawn out. So do check back because that list will go up today.
Secondly, the FSF Author Guest Series is about to commence with a guest post by Alan Baxter, an Australian writer whom I met at Worldcon—we shared a reading, in fact. I think you will very much enjoy his guest post today and I hope you will show your support by commenting here and/or by clicking through to vist his website and find out more about Alan and his writing.
My bookstore didn’t have the Heir of Night so I’ll be ordering it on my next book buying spree on bookdepository. I was surprised to see the difference in price between the US and the AU versions and as it is I’ll probably be buying the US version.
Sullivan M. I am sorry your bookstore didn’t have it ( we berate your bookstore, in absentia, but there are still the giveaways to be drawn before you order elsewhere … I don’t understand the full mysteries of pricing, but the AU version is a B format trade paperback (ie a larger size) whereas the US edition is mass market paperback, so smaller.
over 475?! WOW! 😀
Where I live, bookstores don’t have books in English unfortunately. So I have to order my books from bookdepository, too. (I don’t live in a big city! :P)
Congrats again, Helen! ^O^
Thanks, Giada!
Huge congratulations on the release of The Heir of Night, Helen! I LOVE the tag line ‘If Night Falls, All Fall’. I’m flying away on holiday tomorrow and hope to be able to buy your book at Sydney Airport on the way out :-). Congrats again and here’s to many many sales!
Natalie
Thank you so much, Natalie–it was lovely to meet you at Worldcon and I hope you have a fantastic holiday! (Can I come too? No, keep forgetting no holidays for me until WALL2 is finished! 🙂 )
