Ringing In The New: I’m Now On Twitter!
Yup, I’ve done it—I’m now on Twitter! And yes again, it’s a bit of a big step given that my writing commitments are heavy and anything that has the potential to eat into writing time is quite scary.
But then again, when you live at the bottom of the world, not quite as far away from anywhere else as it’s possible to get but close to it, the internet and social media like Twitter are an important way to interact with both readers and other writers. In a way, going on Twitter is probably the writer’s equivalent of frequenting an 18th century coffee house …
Mind you, I can already see that the Twitterverse is a wild wild world with a huge amount going on (Paul Weimar from SF Signal called it a ‘river’ and he’s not wrong!) But wild and chaotic can be fun, too—so I do hope that those of you who are on Twitter will consider following me on what feels as much like embarking on a whitewater rafting adventure as strolling into a coffee house!
You will see the “Follow Me @helenl0we” link on the right side bar, just below the Tuesday Poem icon. π
(The ‘0’ is a zero by the way, so don’t be fooled …)
Good luck! Don’t get too busy and forget to write π
Not on twitter myself as don’tneed another addiction sucking time away from me.
The time factor is a worry for sure, Jen, but I have to try and manage it. We’ll see how I go, shall we? π
Go for it!
I’m not on twitter, but my offspring are – it seems to have by far the most up-to-date earthquake news, they found it very useful in February for finding out what was open etc.
I think the analogy to it being like a river was very apt; will see how my white water rafting skills go …
I love Twitter π I haven’t had time to tweet as much as I’d like lately, but there’s no better way to keep up with all the writing news and gossip (mostly the gossip, some days, hehe). It’s a lot of fun π
Glad to have you following me, Wen, and I’ll look out for your tweets.
Fabulous news! Welcome to Twitter. You always seem very disciplined with your writing to me – I’m sure it won’t be a problem!
Elizabeth–sometimes I fear, appearances can deceive … Or perhaps it’s just that I am not the ‘world’s fastest, writer’ so I am very conscious that every new activity added in takes away from the time for that. π But the twitterverse is certainly interesting, if somewhat chaotic! π
