A Little Fun: Speaking “New Zild”
We don’t commonly hear our own accents, but I’m told New Zealanders — or “Kiwis” as we often refer to ourselves — are popularly held to have reduced the English language’s vowel 5 sounds to approximately 2.5.
Be that as it may, I thought you might like to learn how to “pronunciate New Zild” all correct-like… ๐
Starting at the very best place, i.e. the beginning, with “A”:
“A is for Uh” — a sound commonly used when pausing in mid-speech…
This, of course, would mean that “Asantir”, in the Wall Of Night series, is pronounced “Uhz-un-tir.”
So now you know! ๐
Uzh-un-tir? Yeah, I’ve been doing it wrong. I see that as “As-an-tear”
No, no: not wrong at all, Paul — you, after all, hail from a nation that retains the full 5 English vowels. ๐
Just a thought but how bout attaching a sound byte with the pronunciation for those of us who are phonetically challenged? ๐
BC
Well, I “would”, BC, in fact would love to do more ‘voice” stuff like podcasts etc but haven’t figured out “how to” yet with the blog–and until WALL3 is done, there is no time allocation for searching out solutions, let alone implementing them. :-/
