What I’m Reading This Weekend… How About You?
Yesterday I talked about my most recent “read and enjoyed”, Holly Black’s The Coldest Girl In Coldtown.
With that out of the way, the books I have on the reading table for this weekend are:
Isabel Allende’s classic Of Love and Shadows, which has been on the table for some time but has now worked it’s way much closer to the top.
Joe Abercrombie’s Half A King, which will be my first Joe Abercrombie read (I know: shock, horror–but better late than never, right? Right!) and I believe may be his first foray into YA fiction. It’s also made it onto the recently announced Gemmell Legend Award shortlist for this year, so I note the “watch this space” for the outcome of the vote.
Also on the TBR table, although I’m not sure it’ll make it off the reading blocks this weekend, is Mikhail Bulgakov’s The Master and Margarita, which I’ve been meaning to re-read for some time.
So how about you: what are you reading this weekend?
Finishing up an ARC of COURT OF FIVES by the fabulous Kate Elliott
I wonder if this is anything to do with the famous Fives Court of Regency London, centered on the sport of boxing? But no spoilers–I shall wait for your review. Will it be on SF Signal?
My 2015 Worldcon Hugo Voter pack from Sasquan.
I will be reading items out of this until the end of July when voting closes.
That is a demanding reading project, on several levels: good luck!
I’m currently about halfway through Oliver Sack’s memoir of his passion for chemistry when he was a boy – “Uncle Tungsten”. I’m finding it very readable and quite fascinating.
It certainly sounds fascinating…
Hitch Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, and also finishing up Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. Enjoying both very greatly so far.
I think both of those would be described as “classics”. Astonishing to think that it’s already a decade since Strange & Norrell was published!
Am currently reading and vastly enjoying The Yiddish Policeman’s Union by Michael Chabon.
I’ve heard that’s a great read.
