Year of Worldbuilding in Fantasy #9 — The Many Worlds Of Kate Elliott
The Spiritwalker books are some of my favorites. There is brand new Kate Elliott coming this fall … and she’s branching out into science fiction with Unconquerable Sun. I think I heard her describe it as Alexander the Great in space. 🙂
A gender swapped Alexander the Great, I believe. 🙂
In terms of branching out, was her Jaran series SF based? Or SF-Fantasy at any rate? (I’ve always been meaning to read it but havena got there yet.)
The Jaran series is much more science fiction, and it presents an entirely fascinating look at what could happen when an extremely advanced, space-able race meets a complicated but undeveloped world. You get both steppe nomads and space ships! It’s Elliot-esque anthropology at its best.
That does sound interesting: thanks for the additional details! 🙂
