The Wall Of Night #4 (“The Chaos Gate”) Update: April 2022
I’ve checked back, and found I was correct last Thursday: I had pencilled in a The Wall of Night #4 (WT: The Chaos Gate) update for April 7. Although there have been a few mini updates, in the three months since I made that commitment, on January 6.
At that time, I advised that “there’s still a large part of the denouement to write.”
Currently, the writing continues apace and the end sequences are coming together. Essentially, the story now comprises only two narrative arcs, with all the point-of-view characters present in either one. So the writing is getting to that “the end is nigh” feeling—but without being quite there yet!
The only way to get there is to stay glued to the writing desk and keep going, especially as now feels like a critical juncture. On which note, I aim to get back to it—but with a promise to keep you updated as soon as anything of moment happens, and/or on July 7, whichever arrives first.
In the meantime, all positive writing vibes are very welcome. 😀 A few libations to the muses “that they may be kind” might not go amiss either!
Lots of positive vibes winging their way from Scotland.
Awesome: thank you!
It must be so tempting to follow some of the byways of characters and scenarios, so positives vibes (and a libation I am currently drinking) winging across the city towards you.
Having said that I would look forward to some spinoff tales of various charactersand places – e.g. the heralds, the “rogue” houses, Lightening, Sun, Fire, how Harth as a whole fars, there are so many that could keep you busy for years to come!
Hi Sue,
I’m so sorry I missed seeing your comment until now, but thank you for the vibes and libation.:) Unfortunately, a combination of family illness and writing administration (not administrivia, alas, in this case) have pulled me away from the writing desk, but I should be back to it again within a few days. (Huzza!)
Someone else observed recently that the WALL series comprises not just a world but a universe and histories as well, which was lovely feedback to receive — but it’s also true that every new point-of-view, realm, or backstory added lengthens the story being told, so I’ve always had to be very disciplined about which characters and scenarios I pursue.
Thank you for plugging away at finishing up the story arc. I’m one of the many that enjoyed your previous work (I bought all your books- even the YA!) Looking forward to the next and so glad it’s coming along.
Good reads has no information on it. If ever you wonder about if you make a difference in the world, your creations have given me hours of enjoyment…and I have reread in preparation for the next one….
Hi Aviva, Thank you so much for your positive and supportive comment and my apologies for the delay in acknowledging it.
Although there are many reasons for embarking on the writing journey, an important one for me is wanting to try and put something good into the world. Accordingly, it means a lot to know the books have given you hours of enjoyment.
