Since I accidentally posted my intended Tuesday Poem, The Curve of the World<\/em><\/strong> here<\/a>, on Monday (what was I thinking?) it will not now be my final “The Best of ‘…on Anything Really'”<\/em> post after all. That will be today’s post, which you may think of as “Helen’s Tuesday poem effort reprised!” \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n

So here it is, the Tuesday Poem reprised, and also the last of “The Best of ‘…on Anything Really'”<\/em> —\u00a0 from the hill<\/em><\/strong>, first featured on June 7<\/a> last year, on the anniversary of my joining the Tuesday Poem community:<\/p>\n

from the hill<\/strong><\/p>\n

boats turn
\nat their moorings,
\nfacing into the wind:<\/p>\n

I can see every
\nshift in the weather
\nfrom up here,<\/em>
\nshe says, standing
\nat my shoulder \u2014
\nthe boats better
\nthan any
\nweathervane\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n

we take our tea
\nout, onto a deck
\nmade of timber
\nfrom old hulks
\ndredged out
\nof harbour mud,
\nshe speaks
\nof the home to
\nwhich she does
\nnot return, of the
\nmuch younger man
\nwho will not let
\nher go \u2014 nor she him \u2014
\nturns again to watch
\nthe boats, talks
\nof a change
\nin the wind.<\/p>\n
