Well, a\u00a0 few things as it happens.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Firstly, you may recall that last Sunday in “What I’m Reading”<\/a> I talked about Jane Higgins’ debut novel The Bridge<\/strong><\/em> and how much I’d enjoyed it. I also mentioned that it was shortlisted for the NZ Post Children’s Book Awards<\/a>. Well this week the Award winners were announced—and The Bridge<\/em><\/strong> received an Honour Mention in the Young Adult Fiction category.<\/p>\n

Very well done, Jane! (Although in my personal, very subjective opinion The Bridge<\/strong><\/em> could easily have won…)<\/p>\n

Jayden is Wen’s grandson and I am not going to jump her gun in telling you all about his situation and the whys and wherefores of the fund raising campaign and auction on Monday—but if you do want to find out more there are a few pertinent posts on her blog, starting here<\/a> and also check out the “Help Baby Jayden”<\/strong> blog here<\/a>.<\/p>\n
