\"\"<\/a>On Friday I was happy to share the good news that the Christchurch Writers’ Festival programme was out and that I would be appearing in the “Why YA”<\/strong> panel with John Boyne<\/a> and Jane Higgins<\/a>, compered by James Norcliffe<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The event is scheduled for 9.30 am on Sunday 2 September and here’s what we’re going to be talking about:<\/p>\n

“YA \u2013 ‘Young Adult’ \u2013 is a comparatively recent literary genre. Once readers<\/em>
\nmoved straight from children\u2019s to adult novels but now there is a rich<\/em>
\nvariety of fiction for teenagers. Is there a genuine and valid divide<\/em>
\nbetween juvenile and adult writing or is YA nothing more than a marketing<\/em>
\nphenomenon? Are there different types of YA fiction? What trends can be<\/em>
\ndiscerned in writing for this pivotal, impressionable and techno-savvy age<\/em>
\ngroup?”<\/em><\/p>\n

I don’t think we’ll have any shortage of scope for discussion there!<\/p>\n

In fact, I think it’s going to be a great panel and would love it if you could make it along — and say hello afterward as well!<\/p>\n
