{"id":15415,"date":"2012-08-19T06:30:23","date_gmt":"2012-08-18T18:30:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/?p=15415"},"modified":"2012-08-19T00:00:04","modified_gmt":"2012-08-18T12:00:04","slug":"whats-coming-up-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/2012\/08\/19\/whats-coming-up-4\/","title":{"rendered":"What&#8217;s Coming Up&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/2011\/08\/30\/tuesday-poem-enchantress-of-numbers-by-helen-rickerby\/tuespoem\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7519\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-7519\" title=\"TuesPoem\" src=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/TuesPoem.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"120\" height=\"107\" \/><\/a>Poetry is taking a front seat on the &#8220;What&#8217;s Coming Up&#8221; front here <em>&#8220;&#8230;on Anything, Really&#8221;<\/em> over the next few weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Firstly I have some great poets lined up for the <a href=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/category\/poetry\/\">Tuesday Poem<\/a> feature including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tuesday 21, <a href=\"http:\/\/theredroom.org\/\">Sarah Jane Barnett<\/a> with a poem from her new-out collection, <em>A Man Runs Into A Woman<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Tuesday 28, my fellow 2012 Ursula Bethell Resident in Creative Writing (University of Canterbury) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.otago.ac.nz\/press\/booksauthors\/otagoauthors\/davideggleton.html\">David Eggleton<\/a>; the poem is from his collection <em>Time of the Icebergs<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Tuesday 4 September, the featured poet will be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.karenzelas.com\/\">Karen Zelas<\/a>, whose debut collection, <em>Night&#8217;s Glass Table<\/em> is being launched at the Christchurch Writers&#8217; Festival &#8212; <em>Night&#8217;s Glass Table<\/em> won the Interactive Publications Best First Book Award 2012.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Still on the poetry front, I shall be interviewing <strong>Rhian Gallagher<\/strong>, winner of this year&#8217;s New Zealand Post Book Award for Poetry, for her collection <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.press.auckland.ac.nz\/uoa\/home\/notices\/template\/notice_item.jsp?cid=414339\">Shift<\/a><\/em>, on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.womenonair.org.nz\/\">Women on Air, Plains 96.9 FM<\/a>, this coming Saturday &#8212; and hope to feature the podcast link here, soon time after that.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/2012\/07\/16\/the-christchurch-writers-festival-why-ya\/chchwritersfest\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-14841\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-14841\" title=\"ChChWritersFest\" src=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/ChChWritersFest.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"131\" height=\"104\" \/><\/a>And of course there&#8217;s the <a href=\"http:\/\/chchwritersfest.co.nz\/\">Christchurch Writers&#8217; Festival<\/a> itself, starting just a few sleeps away on Thursday 30 August and running through until September 2 &#8212; and I shall be appearing on the <strong>\u201cWhy YA\u201d<\/strong> panel with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnboyne.com\/\">John Boyne<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.janehiggins.co.nz\/\">Jane Higgins<\/a>, compered by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bookcouncil.org.nz\/writers\/norcliffe.html\">James Norcliffe<\/a>. You can find out more <a href=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/2012\/07\/16\/the-christchurch-writers-festival-why-ya\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You may recall I interviewed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.julietmarillier.com\/\">Juliet Marillier <\/a>on <a href=\"http:\/\/sfsignal.com\/\">SF Signal<\/a> late last month, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfsignal.com\/archives\/2012\/07\/fun-with-friends-helen-lowe-talks-with-juliet-marillier\/\">here<\/a> &#8212; all going well I should be featuring an interview with Juliet again on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.supernaturalunderground.blogspot.com\/\">Supernatural Underground <\/a>on 1 September, this time specifically focusing on her new YA novel, <em>Shadowfell<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>And my next <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfsignal.com\/archives\/2012\/06\/fun-with-friends-helen-lowe-talks-with-fellow-authors-from-australia-and-new-zealand-todays-guest-is-kim-falconer\/\">SF Signal &#8220;Fun With Friends&#8221;<\/a> interview is also in the wings. This month of shall be chatting with fellow NZ speculative fiction author and poet, <a href=\"http:\/\/timjonesbooks.blogspot.com\/\">Tim Jones<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In and around all that I shall of course be blogging, tweeting, trying to keep up with my reading &#8212; and most important thing of all, writing <strong><em>Daughter of Blood<\/em>, The Wall of Night Book Three<\/strong>. I suspect it&#8217;s time for another update on that soon &#8212; and I&#8217;m aware that I also haven&#8217;t done a review of my six-month writer-in-residency stint yet.
