This quote appears in the latest review for The Heir of Night<\/a>, which appeared on the Raving Doomslayer blog<\/a>. It’s actually a very positive review of the book even if Ben (the reviewer) doesn’t feel I have an original thought in my head when it comes to dealing with classic tropes in the epic fantasy genre. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

Am I upset by this? Not at all—and here’s why. I deliberately set out to write a book that was very ‘classic epic’ in its basic conceptualisation and focus my authorial endeavours on the characters, the world building, and telling a damn fine story. So when I read Ben’s review and see him praise all the latter elements of HEIR, I know that for at least one reader, I achieved what I set out to do—and that, dear readers, is an amazing feeling.<\/p>\n
