I also featured a poem from her first collection, <strong><em>Tigers At Awhitu<\/em><\/strong>, on the Tuesday Poem hub on 18 December last year: <a href=\"http:\/\/tuesdaypoem.blogspot.co.nz\/2012\/12\/all-my-life-by-sarah-broom.html\"><em>All my life<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">As I said in my tribute, for me <strong><em>Tigers at Awhitu<\/em><\/strong> was one of the outstanding poetry collections of 2010, which makes <strong><em>Gleam<\/em><\/strong> a &#8216;must-read&#8217; for me.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">So stay posted to see and hear more about <strong><em>Gleam<\/em><\/strong> from me&#8212;but in the meantime, here&#8217;s what the back cover says:<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><em>&#8220;I went looking for the crack<br \/>\nand as always the light<br \/>\nwas nearly too much to bear &#8212;<br \/>\n<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><em>In her second collection of poetry, Sarah Broom brings us not just to the deepest questions of existence but to an experience of mortality itself.\u00a0Spare, poised and beautiful, the poems in Gleam unerringly\u00a0catalogues the restorative handholds offered by the sea, the beach, the forest \u2013 even as fires burn there, birds die, fish are gutted, poems fail.
