Today is the first day of the Queen’s Birthday long weekend\u2014so what better date to launch the fourth in Helen McKinlay’s<\/strong><\/a> “Grandma”<\/strong><\/em><\/a> series of children’s picture books: Grandma Meets the Queen<\/strong><\/em> <\/a> <\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The launch was held in the Children’s Section of Borders Bookstore<\/strong><\/a> in Riccarton with a celebratory cake (chocolate\u2014my favourite!) and “fluffy’s” (you know, the foamy ‘cappucino-style-but-sans<\/em>-caffeine’ hot drinks) for the kids\u2014and the gathering was enthusiastic and supportive.<\/p>\n

I have been a fan of Grandma from her very first adventure Grandma’s Week Off<\/strong><\/em> , but having snuck home and read this one already, I think Grandma Meets the Queen<\/strong><\/em> may be the best yet.\u00a0 So I am very excited to be interviewing Helen McKinlay for Women on Air<\/strong><\/a> this week and sharing\u00a0 more about her\u2014and Grandma’s\u2014adventures with our listeners.<\/p>\n
