The interview focuses on the relationship between poetry and prose in my writing. Ashley, who is a poet and prose writer himself, had been wanting to do this interview for some time, so when Daughter Of Blood<\/em> (The Wall Of Night Book Three)<\/strong> was finally done, the time seemed right.<\/p>\n

“Ashley Capes:<\/strong> As both a poet and a prose writer, do you find there are any shifts in mindset or process that you need to undertake to switch between modes?<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Helen Lowe:<\/strong> Yes, but the distinction is not just between poetry and prose, since the latter encompasses so many different forms of writing: for example, the novel and the short story. These forms are as distinct from each other, in my opinion, as poetry is to either the short story or the novel. I find that when I am immersed in one form, its specific requirements of style and creative voice tend to take over to the exclusion of other modes…”<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
