Today I am delighted to extend the same warm welcome to crime writer, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Yrsa-Sigur%C3%B0ard%C3%B3ttir\/17790914348\" target=\"_blank\">Yrsa Sigur\u00f0ard\u00f3ttir<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n<h3>Welcoming\u00a0Yrsa Sigur\u00f0ard\u00f3ttir to WORDChristchurch<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/YrsaSigurdsdottir.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-26649\" src=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/YrsaSigurdsdottir-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"YrsaSigurdsdottir\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/YrsaSigurdsdottir-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/YrsaSigurdsdottir-150x112.jpg 150w, https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/YrsaSigurdsdottir.jpg 340w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Icelandic author Yrsa Sigur\u00f0ard\u00f3ttir wrote prize-winning children\u2019s novels before writing <strong><em>Last Rituals<\/em><\/strong>, her first adult novel and described as a &#8220;chilling, grisly thriller.&#8221;\u00a0 Her latest crime novel, <strong><em>The Silence of the Sea<\/em><\/strong>, is the sixth crime novel to feature attorney Thora Gudmundsdottir.<\/p>\n<p>The other\u00a0Gudmundsdottir novels are: <em><strong>My Soul to Take<\/strong>,<\/em> <strong><em>Ashes to Dust<\/em><\/strong>, <em><strong>The Day is Dark<\/strong> <\/em>and<em><strong> Someone to Watch Over Me<\/strong>. <\/em>She has also written a standalone horror novel, <strong><em>I Remember You<\/em><\/strong>, which was published in the UK in 2012. All of her adult novels have been European bestsellers. What has happened to the crew, and to the family who were on board when it left Lisbon? Thora Gudmundsdottir is hired by the young father&#8217;s parents to investigate, and is soon drawn deeper into the mystery. What should she make of the rumours saying that the vessel was cursed, especially given that when she boards the yacht she thinks she sees one of the missing twins? Where is Karitas, the glamorous young wife of the yacht&#8217;s former owner?
