This week, I’ve welcomed welcome fellow Hachette<\/a> authors, Diane Setterfield (Monday) and Yrsa Sigur\u00f0ard\u00f3ttir (Thursday), to NZ and the festival.<\/p>\n

Today I anticipate Sunday’s “Supernaturally” <\/a>event—and also extend the same warm welcome to my third and final fellow Hachette author, Laini Taylor<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Laini Taylor<\/p><\/div>\n

Laini Taylor is the Portland, Oregon author of the bestselling, YA Fantasy trilogy, Daughter of Smoke and Bone<\/em><\/strong>, about Karou, a blue-haired art student and monster\u2019s apprentice, caught between this world and an alternate world where angels and monsters are locked in desperate and unforgiving war.<\/p>\n

Her novel Lips Touch: Three Times<\/em><\/strong>, was a silver medal finalist for the 2009 National Book Award — and a host of other accolades.<\/p>\n

Here’s a little more of what Laini has to tell you about herself:<\/p>\n

“I am a writer-artist-daydreamer-nerd-person, <\/span><\/em>and simultaneously a mom-wife-sister-daughter-person. <\/span><\/em>I can do a lot of things at once, like for example: I can sleep and dream and also lie very still, <\/span><\/em>all while also breathing and ever-so-slowly growing ten distinct toenails<\/span><\/em>…<\/p>\n

Some of my favorite things are books and bookstores <\/span><\/em>and breakfast food and mangoes and chocolate, <\/span><\/em>and cake stands and table cloths and old houses, <\/span><\/em>and\u00a0going places (like libraries and other countries), and dreaming up stories.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
