Yesterday<\/a>, I quoted US writer, educator, artist, brand consultant, and radio host, Debbie Millman<\/a> more fully—but I think what most resonated with me was the part of the quote that concluded: “…don\u2019t waste time. Start now.”<\/em><\/p>\n

When speaking about writing, I often quote Hippocrates, to the effect that “life is short but the art long”,<\/em> so one should indeed, “start now.”<\/p>\n

It’s easy to have one’s energy dissipated into the distractions of degrees, careers, etc. but if the muse is calling, then I believe a lifetime is too short a time to allow—or, in fact, to have at one’s disposal—to respond to that call.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, bestselling US author, Laini Taylor<\/a>, also talked about “not waiting” and “starting now” in the Supernaturally<\/a> event at the WORDChristchurch<\/strong><\/a> writers and readers’ festival in September—so clearly this is something that more than one serious artist experiences\/feels.<\/p>\n

So if you, too, feel the desire to write or pursue any artistic—or other—endeavour:<\/p>\n
