{"id":27573,"date":"2014-12-21T06:30:52","date_gmt":"2014-12-20T17:30:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/?p=27573"},"modified":"2014-12-20T20:31:30","modified_gmt":"2014-12-20T07:31:30","slug":"a-riff-on-writing-process","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/2014\/12\/21\/a-riff-on-writing-process\/","title":{"rendered":"A Riff On Writing Process"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So yesterday I <a href=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/2014\/12\/20\/after-the-book-is-done\/\" target=\"_blank\">posted about what this particular author does when the book is done<\/a> (aside from *twitching*, that is!), including:<\/p>\n<p><em>Tries<\/em> not to even THINK about the next book!<\/p>\n<p>But, of course, part of being an author is that you&#8217;re <em>always<\/em> thinking about the next book, i.e. <em>&#8220;through the day, story; through the night, story&#8230;&#8221;<\/em>\u00a0 Or a story in some form or other, whether short story, novella, play (et al.)<\/p>\n<p>I believe that is part of the essential evolution of story, when it&#8217;s revolving and evolving in your head, ahead of making it&#8217;s way to the blank page&#8212;the &#8220;sit on the porch and rock&#8221; part of the creative process.<\/p>\n<p>The trick, though, is to know when it&#8217;s time to quit rocking, kick those hound dogs off the porch, and sit down at the pc\/typewriter. And to know that you can&#8217;t wait for the Muses(s) forever: sometimes the author has to seize the day and sit down and just write <em>anything<\/em>, simply to get started.<\/p>\n<p>Them&#8217;s my thoughts, anyway&#8212;but I&#8217;m always interested to hear alternate experiences and views. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So yesterday I posted about what this particular author does when the book is done (aside from *twitching*, that is!), including: Tries not to even THINK about the next book!
