Yesterday, I posted the 10 Most-Read Posts From 2014<\/a>, here on the blog,\u00a0 — i.e. your<\/em> favourites.<\/p>\n

Today I’m turning the spotlight onto a few of my favourites from the year, not necessarily all on the blog. But I will start with my favourite post of the year:<\/p>\n

1. My Personal Favourite Post<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

O Frabjous Day<\/a><\/p>\n

Because after close on 2.5 years of writing, completing the manuscript for Daughter Of Blood<\/em><\/strong> so was a moment of intense joy. Being able to share the good news was joyful, too.<\/p>\n

\"Sir<\/a>2. Top Honour: <\/strong><\/p>\n

Being nominated for and then winning —<\/p>\n

The Sir Julius Vogel Award 2014 For Services To Science Fiction, Fantasy, & Horror<\/a><\/p>\n

Thank you again to everyone who nominated and voted for me: I was and remain both honored and touched.<\/p>\n

3. My Favorite Post Series:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“The Year of Living Heroically”<\/strong> by Amanda Arista<\/a> on the\u00a0 Supernatural Underground<\/a>, starting in March with:<\/p>\n

Refusing The Call: “But I don’t wanna,” said Every Hero Ever<\/a><\/p>\n

I enjoyed Amanda’s subsequent take on the “hero’s journey”, monthly throughout the year.<\/p>\n

4. My Favourite Site:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Maria Popova’s Brainpickings <\/a><\/p>\n

and her @brainpicking <\/a>Twitter account. Check it out and I’m sure you’ll see why.<\/p>\n

\"Hild\"<\/a>5. Top Read:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hild<\/em> by Nicola Griffiths<\/a><\/p>\n

I read a number of very good books this year but Hild was unquestionably my favourite.<\/p>\n

6. Top Film:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mockingjay 1<\/strong> – no report on the blog but I really like the film’s handling of Katniss’s story.<\/p>\n

\"OB1\"<\/a>7. Top TV Show:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Orphan Black<\/a><\/p>\n

After Rebecca’s review on Big Worlds On Small Screens <\/a>I just had to see it for myself—and have no regrets at all.<\/p>\n

8. Favourite Poem:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lucifer In Las Vegas<\/em> <\/a>by Joanna Preston<\/strong><\/p>\n

which I featured as guest editor on The Tuesday Poem Hub<\/p>\n

\"Supernaturally\"<\/a>9. Favourite Event:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Supernaturally” with Elizabeth Knox and Laini Taylor\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n
