His first YA novel, <a href=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/2010\/11\/22\/what-im-reading-ship-breaker-by-paolo-bacigalupi\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><em>Ship Breaker<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, also in the &#8220;biopunk&#8221; class of SF, followed in 2010.\u00a0 (The links are to my relevant posts.)<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Doubt Factory<\/em><\/strong> is a new YA work and so far appears to be a departure from biopunk. It&#8217;s also had a mixed reaction from reviewers, so for both reasons I am very interested to read on.<\/p>\n<p>To give you a headsup on &#8220;what it&#8217;s all about&#8221;, here&#8217;s what the back cover has to say:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><em>&#8220;Truth Exists: We just have to hunt for it. Some of it&#8217;s sitting right in front of us. If you really believe your Dad&#8217;s so innocent, then you just have to help us crack the Doubt Factory to confirm it.&#8221;<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><em>Alix stared down at the floor. Moses touched her arm gently.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><em>&#8220;My family&#8217;s deaths aren&#8217;t on you. The next one who dies, though? That is on you. Because now you know something is wrong, and you&#8217;re not doing anything about it.&#8221;<\/em> <\/span><\/p>\n<p>It certainly sounds interesting and so far the intrigue is building nicely&#8230; Also, given the switch in genre, I&#8217;m hoping to be able to interview Paolo Bacigalupi.<\/p>\n<p>Watch this space to see if I manage to swing it. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Additional Information:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>My copy of <strong><em>The Doubt Factory<\/em><\/strong> is the hardcover edition, 484 pp, published by Orbit, which is also my UK publisher.
