The following is an excerpt from their report that refers to the three, place-winning stories:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">&#8220;The third place winner, <em>A Field Guide for Lost Girl<\/em>s, is an excellent piece \u2013 warm, powerful, quirky and with a satisfying and unexpected ending. <em>First Fox<\/em>, which was awarded \u00a0second place, displays some memorable descriptions and \u00a0spot-on satirical insights into relationships. <a href=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/2015\/03\/17\/the-tuesday-poem-i-am-guest-editor-on-the-hub-featuring-frankie-mcmillan\/nohorsescover\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-28499\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-28499\" src=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/NoHorsesCover-188x300.jpg\" alt=\"NoHorsesCover\" width=\"139\" height=\"222\" srcset=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/NoHorsesCover-188x300.jpg 188w, https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/NoHorsesCover-94x150.jpg 94w, https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/NoHorsesCover-642x1024.jpg 642w, https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/NoHorsesCover.jpg 1007w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 139px) 100vw, 139px\" \/><\/a>The competition winner, <em>The House on Riselaw Street<\/em>, has a powerful narrative voice, significant themes, and \u00a0impressionistic, suggestive and economical language that develops considerable emotional power.
