{"id":29665,"date":"2015-07-26T06:30:21","date_gmt":"2015-07-25T18:30:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/?p=29665"},"modified":"2015-07-25T14:52:50","modified_gmt":"2015-07-25T02:52:50","slug":"those-oh-no-moments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/2015\/07\/26\/those-oh-no-moments\/","title":{"rendered":"Those &#8220;Oh, No!&#8221; Moments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Speaking of copyediting, which I have been on and off, but most recently when <a href=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/2015\/07\/16\/well-its-done-the-great-daughter-of-blood-copyedits-a-wrap\/\" target=\"_blank\">Wrapping Up The Copyedit<\/a>, I&#8217;ve traversed everything from comma placement, spelling and grammar, through fact checking, identifying continuity and logic flaws, to disposing of deus ex machinas.<\/p>\n<p>The one thing I didn&#8217;t mention was that moment when you have just finished patting yourself on the back for a job well done (or so you believe), and settled down for what you consider some well deserved relaxation &#8212; only to sit bolt upright again, exclaiming, <em>&#8220;Oh, no! Did I remember to check&#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A few years back, with <em>The Gathering Of The Lost<\/em>, I was on my way to Wellington to help launch <a href=\"http:\/\/maryvictoria.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mary Victoria&#8217;s<\/a> third-in-series, <em>Oracle&#8217;s Fire<\/em>, when I had my &#8220;Oh, no&#8221; moment. Needless to say, I had to do some hasty checking and re-editing over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>With <em>Daughter of Blood<\/em>, however, I am pleased to say that my post-copyedit &#8220;oh, no&#8221; moment proved groundless.
