I am very impressed by the world-(or &#8216;worlds&#8217;, I havena quite determined which it is yet)-building. There are two distinct milieux (and point-of-view characters) &#8212; the one steampunkish (nice!) and Victorian, the other Renaissance-Italianate (also good.)<\/p>\n<p>The magic system is also interesting and it&#8217;s clear thought has gone into how it all works.<\/p>\n<p>Suffice it to say that I am looking forward to &#8220;reading on&#8221; over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>But how about you: what are you reading &#8212; or hoping to read &#8212; this weekend?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last Sunday, I owned up to Trudi Canavan&#8217;s Angel of Storms being the latest book on my teetery-tottery TBR table.
