A February 1 Bonus<\/h3>\n

February 1 was my father’s birthday, so here are a few “father” quotes, from DAUGHTER, by way of\u00a0 a bonus, for you — but also in his memory.<\/p>\n

From the Prologue:<\/h4>\n

“Oh, my heart, Ilkerineth thought: striking at me over Amaliannarath\u2019s long-ago fate will not bring our son back.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Our son. Even the words were a fist of pain, closing around his heart. “Myr\u2019s head throbbed as Kharalthor surged to his feet, knocking his chair to the floor. \u201cHow dare you insult our father!\u201d Two more chairs grated back as Anvin and Parannis leapt up, too, the latter laughing\u2014until Earl Sardon spoke above the uproar, flat as iron.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSit down, all of you.\u201d He waited until they were seated before leaning forward, his stare boring into Parannis. \u201cBe warned: I will not tolerate your barbs\u2014or those your sister has sharpened for you\u2014on this matter. As for the rest, I am out of patience with your interminable arguments.\u201d “<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
