{"id":33779,"date":"2016-12-09T06:30:03","date_gmt":"2016-12-08T17:30:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/?p=33779"},"modified":"2016-12-08T16:48:17","modified_gmt":"2016-12-08T03:48:17","slug":"listicle-love-aka-something-old-something-new","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/2016\/12\/09\/listicle-love-aka-something-old-something-new\/","title":{"rendered":"Listicle Love aka &#8220;Something Old &#038; Something New&#8230;&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tis the season &amp; lists are bustin&#8217; out all over &#8212; including on the &#8220;Booknotes Unbound&#8221; site where the NZ Book Council team have put together a fab listicle in which folk from throughout the NZ book scene feature three of their favourite reads from 2016:<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/booknotes-unbound.org.nz\/the-nz-book-scenes-favourite-reads-of-2016\/\" target=\"_blank\">Booknotes Unbound: The NZ Book Scene\u2019s Favourite Reads of 2016<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>And yep, I too have contributed my wee mite. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p>Needless to say these are not the only books I have loved in 2016, because I went for a &#8220;balanced&#8221; list, but they are certainly three of them.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">So how did I pick my list? It is also published for adult readers but again, I would also consider it suitable for YA readers. It is what I would term &#8220;legendary history&#8221;, i.e a tale that exists in the border country where real history and fantasy (i.e. myths, legends, and folklore) overlap.
