The A Geography of Haarth<\/a> post series explores the full range of locales and places from\u00a0The Wall Of Night<\/a> series\u2019 world of Haarth.<\/p>\n

From January 25, 2013 to November 25, 2014, the series traversed locations encountered in The Heir Of Night<\/em><\/a> and The Gathering Of The Lost<\/em><\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Now the series returns to gazette the places that featured in Daughter Of Blood<\/em><\/a> (The Wall Of Night Book Three.)\u00a0 The new series will include updates of previous entries, such as today’s feature on Aeris, as well as new listings.<\/p>\n

‘ “The Lost are<\/em> another reason behind my journey here,\u201d she told Kalan. \u201cAt the end of last summer, the Band received a report of strange doings in Aeris. Lightning and thunder out of a clear sky one day; on the next a stone barn caught fire and couldn\u2019t be put out. I investigated and the Lost weren\u2019t there\u2014but they had been.\u201d She watched his eyes widen.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Little Pass from Aeris to Emer,\u201d he said. \u201cThey must be using that. It\u2019s hardly more than a goat track, but passable in summer. And once in the wilds of Northern Emer they could go anywhere if they had the right guides.\u201d ‘<\/span><\/p>\n

The daytime heat was still holding in the Aeris basin as evening fell, but later, Malian knew, the night would grow cold enough for frost. A light breeze carried dust and the scent of pine into the trading town with its ancient, ochre walls and sprawl of caravan inns and trading halls, stables and livestock yards. Malian could hear the brisk chime of harness bells from where she sat, high on the wall; a moment later she saw the mule train, making for the city gates in the last of the light. In a town like Aeris, being inside the walls could still mean pickpockets and knives down back alleys, but it also meant hot food, baths, and soft beds for those with money enough to pay.<\/span><\/p>\n
