Recently I\u2019ve resumed my \u201cAbout the Characters\u201d posts that focus on the minor characters in The Wall Of Night<\/a> series \u2014 because \u201cI think it\u2019s the presence of the smaller characters that \u201cmakes\u201d a story, creating texture around the main points of view.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The feature is posting every second Thursday, alternating with A Geography of Haarth<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Note: In terms of being \u201cminor\u201d the characters must at least have a walk-on part and a few lines to say, but \u201cminor\u201d can also simply mean \u201cnot a lead protagonist .\u201d So some of the players that feature here will have a reasonable degree of air time in the story \u2014 like Sister Korriya<\/a> on February 16 or Garan<\/a> in 2015.<\/p>\n

Some, like today\u2019s character, Ter, appear in all three The Wall of Night<\/strong> novels to date.

Ter answered, pitching his voice to carry to the camp as he named the Houses present at the Standing Stone. You could always rely on Ter, Garan thought\u2014he had warned whoever was out there what awaited them, while keeping his tone matter-of-fact.’<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYou know why, Ter.\u201d Garan\u2019s voice was half a sigh. \u201c<\/em>It\u2019s so Night bears some culpability if anything goes wrong, all under the guise of elite selection and open opportunity.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018A Battlemaster\u2019s star in every Blood warrior\u2019s kit.\u2019<\/em>\u201d Ter quoted the Blood saying softly. Quiet chuckles answered his subsequent snort.’<\/span><\/p>\n
