Last year, I resumed my\u00a0\u201cAbout the Characters\u201d<\/a>\u00a0post series that focuses on the minor characters in\u00a0The Wall Of Night<\/a>\u00a0series, because:<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s the presence of the smaller characters that \u201cmakes\u201d a story, creating texture around the main points of view.\u201d

Initially, the series focused exclusively on characters from\u00a0The Heir of Night<\/em><\/a>, but now I\u2019m continuing on with minor characters from both\u00a0The Gathering Of The Lost<\/em><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Daughter of Blood<\/em><\/a>\u00a0simultaneously \u2014 in alphabetical order, of course!<\/p>\n

The newcomer closed the door behind him and tossed his heavy cloak and traveler’s wide-brimmed hat onto a chair.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
\u201cWards on the stairs as well as every door and window! Do you have to be so thrice-cursed cautious, Nirn?\u201d The voice was gravel, echoing eyes that were dark and hard as stone in a square face framed by a multitude of narrow braids, decorated with tiny bones and fetishes. Three ridged scars marched horizontally down his right cheek, echoing the two vertical cicatrices on the left. His mouth was little more than a gash in his hard face, but just now it had a sardonic cast.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Instead it seems you truly have turned native, recruiting their mercenaries to guard your back.”<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
Emuun grunted. “Need breeds strange alliances, Thanir.” His tone was conversational, but he stayed back to back with Malian. “And this mercenary has an impressive sword.”<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
