Last week I confirmed, among other matters, that:<\/p>\n

The Wall Of Night series<\/p><\/div>\n

1. Yes (evile rumour notwithstanding) I am<\/em> still working awa\u2019 on WALL #4. (Huzza!)<\/p>\n

2. And no, WALL #4 is not<\/em> titled The Golden Fire<\/em>, but \u2013 as per the end note in Daughter of Blood<\/em> \u2013 its working title is The Chaos Gate <\/em>(TCG<\/em>).<\/p>\n

1, of course(!), is the key takeaway at this stage but the purpose of today\u2019s post is to give you a little more idea of where I\u2019m at with the “working awa\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n

The last major update was December 28 (2020)<\/a> when I told you I had just begun writing the endgame for WALL #4 (TCG<\/em>), aiming toward a mid-year completion. On February 18<\/a>, by way of a mini update, \u00a0I reported steady progress.<\/p>\n

As indicated in December, the endgame involves wrapping up the storylines for the main point-of-view characters ahead of the final denouement \u2013 and it\u2019s still moving steadily forward, although the current sequence is proving a little trickier than the others to date.<\/p>\n

This could call for a bigger coffee pot!<\/p><\/div>\n

I think this is because it\u2019s one of the \u2018biggest\u2019 of the wrap-up\/reveal sections in terms of its implication, and also involves 3-4 central characters. And as friend and fellow author Courtney Schafer said in our Supernatural Underground interview<\/a> recently, \u201c\u2026the difficulty of writing a scene goes up exponentially with the number of characters involved.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

So in terms of where I\u2019m at with the endgame, it\u2019s always difficult to tell until it\u2019s done, but my informed guesstimate says about halfway through \u2013 so eek<\/em> for that midyear finish goal: hyperventilates, whilst resolving to dig deeper!<\/p>\n

However, steady forward progress still means I\u2019m closing in on \u201cthe end\u201d \u2013 and the only way to get there is to keep going and keep writing, which are definitely among my superpowers.<\/p>\n
