You may recall that when I embarked on this worldbuilding sequence early in the new year, I quickly discovered that I had already done a great many worldbuilding posts over the life of this blog: O-o.<\/p>\n

Since then, I’ve refeatured the most significant ones here<\/a>, and also here<\/a>, as well as pulling others into a recent listicle<\/a> and reminded readers and followers about the delights of A Geography of Haarth<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In terms of new material, I lauded the wisdom of Ursula Le Guin and pointed aspiring worldbuilders to<\/a> her “how to” book on writing, Steering The Craft<\/em>. Subsequently, I contributed my own flow-on reckons in a post titled Beware The Expository Lump<\/a>.<\/p>\n

What I may have mentioned in passing, but haven’t yet re-linked to, is my year of featuring Worldbuilding in Fantasy on the Supernatural Underground<\/a>. A post listing all twelve instalments in that series, with links provided, is here:<\/p>\n

When I reviewed my initial list, however, I discovered there was still more material, as yet unreprised. Most, if not all, of it relates to different aspects of the Wall of Night<\/a> world: history, landscape, technology, weapons et al — much of it written to support the releases of The Gathering of the Lost<\/em><\/a> and Daughter of Blood<\/em><\/a> respectively. So upon reflection, I feel that much the best time to reprise it will be in advance of The Chaos Gate<\/em>, at which point I can update the entries with hints about the new book and its worldbuilding,<\/p>\n

Overall, though, if worldbuilding generally is your interest, then On Worldbuilding<\/em><\/a> is definitely the go-to post. If the Wall of Night is your reason for dropping by, then My Worldbuilding — A Few Thoughts on Guiding Influences<\/em><\/a> may repay your time.<\/p>\n

BUT — The 2019 Q&A Series<\/h3>\n

(Just to prove that “Buts” aren’t always negative :D), although I’m deferring the worldbuilding at this point, what I will be re-featuring is a 2019 Q&A in which I answered reader questions about Daughter of Blood<\/em> and the WALL<\/a> series. I rediscovered the material when looking at the worldbuilding posts and I really do feel that they’re interesting enough to warrant posting again.<\/p>\n
