Recently, I’ve posted two tributes to Patricia McKillip, 1948 – 2022:<\/p>\n

Patricia McKillip: Marvels and Magic<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

As I first wrote, then posted them, illustrating both with covers from some of Ms McKillip’s many publications, I couldn’t help thinking that she really did have the most gorgeous book covers.<\/p>\n

On balance, I think Kinuko Craft<\/a> was her most enduring cover artist, delivering many fine covers like the one previously featured for Ombria in Shadow — <\/em>and today’s, for the mystical Alphabet of Thorns. <\/em><\/p>\n

You’ll recall from earlier, more general book-cover posts<\/a>, that I am a fan of Kinuko Craft’s art.<\/p>\n

When it comes to gorgeous covers, though, I think Thomas Canty’<\/a>s art for The Forgotten Beasts of Eld<\/em> and Dreams of Distant Shores<\/em> is right up there.<\/p>\n

I also really like the Ian Miller<\/a> covers for The Sorceress and the Cygnet<\/em> (1992) and The Cygnet and the Firebird<\/em> (1994)<\/p>\n

As for the original Michael Mariano<\/a> covers for the Riddlemaster<\/strong> trilogy, I’ve always loved them.<\/p>\n
