The one that sparked this post was <em>\u201cIn the bright\u201d,<\/em> from Mary Victoria\u2019s <strong><em>Tymon\u2019s Flight<\/em><\/strong> trilogy. <em>In the bright<\/em> is a greeting, one that makes a lot of sense given her world is a giant tree, with brightness being something those living within its canopy appreciate.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-989\" src=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/COV_TymansFlight-183x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"183\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/COV_TymansFlight-183x300.jpg 183w, https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/COV_TymansFlight-626x1024.jpg 626w, https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/COV_TymansFlight.jpg 1377w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 183px) 100vw, 183px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I also love <em>\u201cWatch for me!\u201d<\/em>, which is both a blessing and a curse in the <strong>Los Nefilim<\/strong> series by Teresa Frohock. To give you context, the nefilim are constantly reborn to serve in the way between angels and demons, so \u201cWatch for me\u201d may be something a nefilim says to friends \u2013 but also enemies.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-39312\" src=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Watch-for-Me-300x298.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"298\" srcset=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Watch-for-Me-300x298.png 300w, https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Watch-for-Me-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Watch-for-Me-768x763.png 768w, https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Watch-for-Me-1024x1018.png 1024w, https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Watch-for-Me.png 1288w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A similarly doubled-edged watchword is <em>\u201cA Lannister always pays his debts\u201d<\/em> from George RR Martin\u2019s famous <strong>A Game of Thrones*<\/strong> series.
