So in slightly belated recognition of the day, here are a few examples that sprang to mind &#8212; starting with Owl (or sometimes &#8216;Wol&#8217;) in AA Milne&#8217;s <strong>Winnie-the-Pooh<\/strong> books.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-42341\" src=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Winnie-the-Pooh-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"154\" height=\"231\" srcset=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Winnie-the-Pooh-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Winnie-the-Pooh-100x150.jpg 100w, https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Winnie-the-Pooh.jpg 333w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 154px) 100vw, 154px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Owl Service<\/em> <\/strong>by Alan Garner was published as Middle Grade fiction, but I believe this reworking of the Mabiniogion&#8217;s tale of Blodeuwedd, the woman of flowers, has crossover appeal.
