They need only play their part &#8212; but also, I would maintain and aver, feel real in their role.<\/p>\n<p>I believe that Peta, an Aralorni Hill horse that appears in <a href=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/daughterofblood.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong><em>Daughter of Blood<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, fulfils that function, albeit in a modest way, hence today&#8217;s post. \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n<p>For those who may not know the drill, the \u201cMeet the Minor Players\u201d features the minor (or sometimes\u2014as today\u2014\u201cmuch more minor\u201d \ud83d\ude09 ) characters in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.helenlowe.info\/wallofnight.html\"><strong>The Wall Of Night<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0series because:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><em>\u201cI think it\u2019s the presence of the smaller characters that \u201cmakes\u201d a story, creating texture around the main points of view.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><em>~ Helen Lowe (<\/em>from my Legend Award Finalist\u2019s Interview, 2013)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Now, let&#8217;s meet Peta!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">~*~<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Peta:<\/strong> an Aralorni Hill horse, companion-in-adventure to Raven*, a Southern Realms hedge knight<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Peta, Raven\u2019s mare, tossed up her head, but he spoke a quiet word and she steadied. Hani pricked her ears forward, and then both horses followed Raven through the gate. Malian waited until the mares\u2019 tails had swished clear before following, letting the opening close as soon as she stood on the foothill side. The imprint of the stable lingered briefly against the darkness, and then there was just the pine grove, with the wind sighing down from the high peaks, bringing the chill of snow.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>~ from \u00a9\u00a0<em>Daughter of Blood<\/em>,\u00a0<strong>The Wall Of Night<\/strong> Book Three \u2013 Chapter 15, The Night Fair<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<pre>* Raven is <em>not<\/em> a minor character.
