Taking a peep within, I&#8217;m pretty sure I can manage a poem a night&#8230;<\/p>\n<h3><em><strong>Blether\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-42976\" src=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Blether_book-cover-183x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"183\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Blether_book-cover-183x300.jpg 183w, https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Blether_book-cover-92x150.jpg 92w, https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Blether_book-cover.jpg 244w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 183px) 100vw, 183px\" \/><\/h3>\n<p><em>Blether<\/em> is an anthology of short fictions on the theme of that great Scottish word, &#8220;blether.&#8221; It was produced by the Scottish Book Trust for Book Week Scotland. Being micro fiction, or short short stories, many are of comparable length to a poem. So again, I think I could add a wee blether to the reading of a poem*, every night.<\/p>\n<h3><em>Tales From The Ruins<\/em><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-42977\" src=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Tales-From-The-Ruins-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Tales-From-The-Ruins-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Tales-From-The-Ruins-100x150.jpg 100w, https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Tales-From-The-Ruins.jpg 266w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Tales From The Ruins<\/em>, subtitled <em>A Post-Apocalyptic Anthology<\/em>, comprises fourteen short stories of &#8220;&#8230;a world in ruins&#8221; that are also &#8220;intimate and moving accounts&#8221; of what might be if the worst, in terms of environmental catastrophe, pandemics, or cataclysmic war, should occur.<\/p>\n<p>Best of all, one of those short stories was penned by one of my visitors: <em>Help, Scotland<\/em> by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.highlandlit.com\/malcolmtimperley\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Malcolm Timperley<\/a>. The stories are varied in size, but I could probably manage most in an evening.<\/p>\n<p>All this, of course, assumes one&#8217;s evenings have space for poetry and short stories, as well as a spot o&#8217; blether &#8212; but if not, it may be time to make some.
