As you know, this series features the minor characters in The Wall Of Night<\/strong><\/a> — although in some cases, supporting characters may be a better way to put it. It’s a case of balancing page time, which may be “minor”, with their importance in the world of the story.<\/p>\n

One of the reasons for focusing on minor-to-supporting characters is because it’s usually the major point-of-view characters that get the discussion love, but: \u2014<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s the presence of the smaller characters that (also) \u201cmakes\u201d a story, creating texture around the main points of view.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Initially, this series focused exclusively on characters from The Heir of Night<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, but now I\u2019m continuing on with minor characters from both\u00a0The Gathering Of The Lost<\/strong><\/em><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Daughter of Blood<\/strong><\/em><\/a>\u00a0\u2014 in alphabetical order, by name, of course!<\/p>\n

Some of you may know the Prince of Sun better as Aranraith, or his sobriquet of the Serpent Prince. Either way, although not a major “player character”, he is important to the continuing story.<\/p>\n

Prince of Sun:<\/strong>\u00a0the leader of the Sworn \u2014 or\u00a0Dark<\/em>sworn, depending on your perspective \u2014 nation of Sun; also known as Aranraith or the Serpent Prince.<\/span><\/p>\n

“… the dark-haired man sank to his knees, dragging the old man down with him. \u201cPrince of Sun.” He bowed forward until his forehead touched the floor. “You honor this house.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

All three strangers lifted back their hoods, and Faro bit back a cry because now he saw why the tallest man\u2019s hood moved. He closed his eyes, but when he looked again the nightmare was still there, a powerfully built man in gold-washed black mail, with long coils of hair falling down his back. Except that the coils were not hair at all, but a sinuous twist of blue-black snakes, their forked tongues a perpetual flicker about the stranger\u2019s head and shoulders.”<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
