But it’s Tuesday so we still have to have a poem, right? Right!<\/p>\n

But just for a little advance on more poetry goodness first, it’s currently National Poetry Month<\/a> in the States and over on Tor.com<\/a> they’re celebrating poetry written by notable SFF writers.<\/a> Yesterday’s featured poem<\/a> was John M Ford’s Sonnet Against Entropy. <\/strong><\/em>So if you are already a fan of Voyagers Science Fiction Poetry of New Zealand<\/a>, or either SFF or poetry generally, you might like to check this series out.<\/p>\n

OK, back to my Tuesday Poem …<\/p>\n

Yesterday I posted that “Winter is coming …”<\/a> but right now it’s still autumn and so it feels right to have an autumn poem. So here you are:<\/p>\n

This is My Heart<\/strong><\/p>\n

Feet pound on pavement,
\nautumn blows and scatters
\nleaves across shoes moving
\nin a welter of russet, scarlet,
\nbronze: wind gusts, restless
\nwith residual melancholy \u2013
\nfeel the earth’s heart turning
\nbeneath the pale sun, catch
\nthe rhythm through the sole
\nof every footstep, pulsing
\nto the brave, wind-blown
\nbrightness of the day:
\nthis is my heart, beating;
\nthis is my heart<\/p>\n
