{"id":5502,"date":"2011-05-21T06:30:37","date_gmt":"2011-05-20T18:30:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/?p=5502"},"modified":"2011-05-20T22:18:53","modified_gmt":"2011-05-20T10:18:53","slug":"the-excitement-mounts-tales-for-canterbury-goes-to-press","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/2011\/05\/21\/the-excitement-mounts-tales-for-canterbury-goes-to-press\/","title":{"rendered":"The Excitement Mounts: &#8220;Tales for Canterbury&#8221; Goes To Press"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-4436\" href=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/2011\/03\/28\/tales-for-canterbury\/talesforcanty\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-4436\" title=\"TalesforCanty\" src=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/TalesforCanty.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"118\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/TalesforCanty.jpg 118w, https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/TalesforCanty-98x150.jpg 98w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 118px) 100vw, 118px\" \/><\/a>One thing that happened in the early part of this week is that I completed the final proof of <strong><em>The Fountain<\/em><\/strong>, the short story that I donated to the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/talesforcanterbury.wordpress.com\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Tales for Canterbury<\/span><\/a><\/strong> anthology, a\u00a0 fundraising project for the Christchurch earthquake recovery effort put together by <a href=\"http:\/\/just-cassie.com\/\"><strong>Cassie Hart<\/strong><\/a> of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.specficnz.org\/\"><strong>SpecFicNZ<\/strong><\/a> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.annacaro.org\/\">Anna Caro<\/a> <\/strong>of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.randomstatic.net\/\"><strong>Random Static<\/strong><\/a>&#8212;all kudos to both of them.<\/p>\n<p>As a resident of Christchurch I am obviously very much in support&#8212;no surprises, you may say, that I am willing to put a story out there. What has been really gratifying though, has been the level of both national (extra-Christchurch) and international support.<\/p>\n<p>National authors include <strong>Phillipa Ballantine, Karen Healey, Tim Jones, Ripley Patton,<\/strong> &amp; <strong>Mary Victoria<\/strong>, to name just a very few.<\/p>\n<p>International authors include <strong>Neil Gaiman, Gwyneth Jones, Jay Lake, Juliet Marillier<\/strong> and <strong>Sean Williams<\/strong> (again, to name just a few.)<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Tales for Canterbury<\/strong><\/em> is: <em>&#8220;loosely themed around\u00a0survival, hope and the future.&#8221;<\/em> Given the lineup of both national and international writers I can only imagine that it&#8217;s going to be an &#8220;absolutely fabulous \ud83d\ude09 &#8221; anthology.<\/p>\n<p>And yesterday editor Anna Caro emailed me that: <em>&#8221; &#8230; the book is at the printers!&#8221;<\/em> (&#8220;Woot!&#8221; I added, not to be undone.)<\/p>\n<p>Honestly though, this is a great moment and a great cause with <em>&#8220;all profits &#8230; [of this anthology] &#8230; being donated\u00a0to the Red Cross Christchurch Earthquake Appeal.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The <em><strong>Tales for Canterbury <\/strong><\/em>project target is to raise $5000 for the earthquake appeal fund&#8212;and so far $1855 has been raised.
