{"id":6548,"date":"2011-07-05T06:30:14","date_gmt":"2011-07-04T18:30:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/?p=6548"},"modified":"2011-08-05T08:32:13","modified_gmt":"2011-08-04T20:32:13","slug":"tuesday-poem-midwinter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/helenlowe.info\/blog\/2011\/07\/05\/tuesday-poem-midwinter\/","title":{"rendered":"Tuesday Poem: &#8220;Midwinter&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Midwinter<\/h3>\n<p>Already noon<br \/>\nand the bright midwinter sun<br \/>\nonly now taking<br \/>\nthe iron-hard edge<br \/>\noff the frost\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2026 so many tasks wait,<br \/>\nstealth weeds creeping<br \/>\nbetween bricks and shrubs,<br \/>\nthe guttering that becomes<br \/>\na waterfall in heavy rain<br \/>\noverflowing with leaves<br \/>\nas I watch the steam<br \/>\ncurl from my coffee cup;<br \/>\nthe sun peers in the bay<br \/>\nwindow, waits for the cat<br \/>\nto stir from my lap,<br \/>\nfor my hand to turn<br \/>\nthe last page in my book.<br \/>\n.<br \/>\n\u00a9 Helen Lowe, 2011<br \/>\n.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>I seem to be in the mode for what I would call &#8220;occasional&#8221; poems&#8212;and definitely with a &#8220;domestic&#8221; theme, ie these are not poems about venturing out into the world; quite clearly the opposite, in fact, with <em>Midwinter<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Once again, enjoy.
