Tuesday Poem: “Godwitting” by Bella Boyd
Godwitting
Wing out wilde bells,
restrain your dogs
spring harbingers clock in
sing of Limosa Lapponica,
fingers of Charadriiformes,
waders from the 16th C
flying in shrink wrapped
bedraggled
foraging for molluscums crustaceans in
shallows shining estuary,
where spring is peppered with
sewage and salted sea
wring out concerns,
for these summer tourists
pilot 11,000 Ks
trinkets to people twin share.
Roosting bibs a ruddy red,
waiting wind streams
homing Artic breeding grounds
godwitting on refuel
in yellow seas
