The Waste Land by TS Eliot, published in 1922, is arguably one of the most significant and certainly among the most well-known poems of the 20th century. Written in the aftermath of World War 1, it is generally held to be obscure, but follows the legend of the Holy Grail and the Fisher King as well as addressing themes of disillusion, despair, and judgement.
It is also, as I hope the opening stanza that I have featured today reflects, wonderful poetry. I also think it may well appeal to many readers of epic fantasy in terms of its — loose — narrative arc, subject matter and themes, so I hope there is not only something today for all …on Anything, Really regulars, but that some may check out the full length poem.
