On Supernatural Underground Now: Fantastic Creatures & Animal Companions — Don’t Ya Love ‘Em!
September 1 was the day for my regular Supernatural Undergound post and this month it’s about fantastic creatures and/or lovable animal companions and their place in Fantasy literature.
As I admit in the opening paragraph, the post is very much influenced by my recent post series here, Having Fun With Epic Fantasy Tropes—some of which, like our ongoing love affair with fantastic creatures and animal companions, are deeply embedded in Fantasy literature generally. (Imho.)
In my latest Supernatural Underground post I take a look at the importance of this particular tradition—including some favourite examples, of course! How not, when there are so many wonderful instances to celebrate… 😉

Fantastic creatures…
To check out those I’ve focused on this time (because these few examples are a very—Very!-–long way from being all the literature comprises) rock on over to Supernatural Underground and take a peek at:

If you have a favourite companion creature from the genre, whether fantastic or animal, I would love to know what it is: the comments are always open, either there or here. 🙂

…and animal companions

Note: Because I’m linking across to the Supernatural Underground today, the next instalment of Having Fun With Epic Fantasy Tropes has been rescheduled until next Monday. Although as above, companions creatures are also a trope so visiting the SU could be a fun side trip on the same Fantasy route. 😉
