A Writing Quote from Michael Crichton, 1942 – 2008
“Books aren’t written — they’re rewritten. Including your own. It is one of the hardest things to accept, especially after the seventh rewrite hasn’t quite done it.”
~ Michael Crichton, 1942 – 2008

I believe this is one of the truest observations of the writing process that I’ve read. Speaking, you understand, as the person who had to rewrite the beginning of Part VI No-Man’s-Land in Daughter of Blood around five to six times, to get the story to flow. 😉
I have experienced chapters or sequences where one “take” is all that’s required, but they are very few and far between.
All of which seems very apposite right now, as I revise The Chaos Gate manuscript, hence choosing this quote to kick off the week. 😀
See you back here on Thursday. In the meantime, have a good week!
