w00t-w00t! “A Son’s Return Home” Is Funded!
I was absolutely thrilled over the weekend to see that NZ short film A Son’s Return Home made its’ funding target!
So the NZ Film Commission assessor who said “this film must be made” can now be happy — because it will be! 😀
Boosted, like many crowdfunding programmes, is an all-or-nothing gig, so I will confess to some nailbiting on behalf of my friend—who wrote the filmscript—over the past few weeks. Needless to say, she is very happy, and I am happy on her behalf, because I know that making this film will be the fulfilment of a lifelong dream.

Getting in the WW1, Canterbury Mounted Rifles spirit — from the fundraiser launch.
So if any of you were able to donate or spread the word, thank you so, so much! And if you weren’t able to support right now (because sometimes we ‘just can’t’), but are interested nonetheless, rest assured — when A Son’s Return Home is made and has a release (probably through the film festival circuit) I’ll be sure to share the news here. 😀
In the meantime, here’s that trailer again, which will have to do us for a while:
