More Fun Stuff
There’s been all sorts of good things arriving in the post this week—yup, that’s the good old “Her Majesty’s Mail”, not the electronic variety. Much more fun, because you get to open the book, and then the envelope or packaging, and discover the mysteries contained therein.
So what did lie therein this week?
On Monday I received my copy of The Press Christchurch Writers’ Festival programme—with my name in it three times: two for the events I’m in (Hot Off the Press and Speed Date A Writer; this last is for High School kids only).
But I think the third time may have been best: my Australia/New Zealand publisher, Hachette, put in a
full page “Meet the Hachette Authors” feature—which I have to say, fully fits my definition of “fun stuff”.

But yesterday, I received another package in the post, this time with a copy of debut New Zealand author, Mary Victoria’s brand new, hot-off-the-press SFF novel, Tymon’s Flight (HarperCollins Voyager, Aus.)—which, by the way, has a fabulous cover designed (I believe) by her husband. There’s a nice connection to WETA here (you know, Peter Jackson & The Lord of the Rings WETA Studios & Digital) as both Mary and her husband work for them. So the launch is—where else?—but you guessed it, at the WETA Cave on August 14. (Not many sleeps left now!) And I’ll be interviewing Mary for Women on Air (Plains 96.9 FM) on Saturday 19 August.
Definitely more fun stuff happening all round!
It’s fun getting parcels – especially those you know have books in! I love getting the ones from Hachette with books to be reviewed!
