Tuesday Poem: “Knowing”—for Valentine’s Day
Knowing
You’re lucky,
my mother said
in her long dying,
that you have
someone
who loves you.
So much left unsaid
about her life.
But she was right in this:
I am. I do.
Wake every day
to your warm
breathing.
Wonder.

With yesterday being Valentine’s Day, I felt today’s Tuesday Poem just had to centre on love and relationship. 🙂

I really like the way this poem is so moving and unpretentious, it’s lovely. Perfect for Valentines.
Thank you, Alicia.
Profound simplicity.
Beautiful, Helen. Thank you.
Thank you, Claire.
Reading this poem, I think “It is all there”.
And I get the wonder!
And I give it back!
I am glad you “like” your valentine, Andrew. 🙂
Lovely, and heart-rending. Lucky Andrew! 🙂
I agree, it is beautifully pared back, Helen. The moment of waking is so important, isn’t it? My favourite post this week!
Thank you so much, Elizabeth, for saying so—“way cool!”
