Die Erbin Der Nacht: “The Heir of Night” to be Published in Germany
I’ve been sitting on this news for quite some time, but finally it’s official: The Heir of Night is to be translated into German and published in Germany next year by Blanvalet.
As you know, Heir was published in the Netherlands this year (see the celebratory post for Kind Van De Nacht here) and is also being published in France next year—so the confirmation that it’s to be published in Germany as well is really exciting news.
The title in German translation is Die Erbin Der Nacht and just to prove that it’s really official, here’s the cover—which I really like! But what do you think?
The cover is the first thing notice and I love it! It really sets a mood, sort of like during sunset or sunrise. I like how the heroine is partly in shadow but the details still shine. *thumbs up* I kind of like this cover best of all.
And it has a sense of energy and strength, too–I think you could put your faith in this girl and she would not let you down!
Very nice. Congrats.
Looks like something my niece may pick up. She’s filched her brother’s Fantasy bookshelves quite a bit these days. ๐
I think your niece would enjoy it–and your nephew, too, if feedback from my English language readers holds good, ie a lot of ‘blokes’ have liked this book. Possibly this is helped because there is another major character, Kalan—who is due to get lots if air time in Book 3.
How cool!
Congrats!
The shadow and light cover is awesome. Do you know who the artist is?
Jan, I think it’s a photographer for these sorts of covers, but I’ll try and find out for you.
Congrats. The cover is completely, utterly awesome – love it!
I think that they have captured a powerful image here. Just the right combination of strength and adversity.
Getting published so widely internationally is also a very big deal.
Congratulations on a fantastic achievment!
I wonder which country will be next?
Thank you, Andrew! I agree about the combination of strength and adversity being exactly right. As for the plans for world domination, let me return to my secret fortress and practice my ‘mwu-u-u ha ha’s!’ ๐
Herzlichen Glueckwunsch, Helen – nun kann ich das Buch endlich auch verstehen!
However – its not fair that you tell us already about book 3 and we still can’t buy book 2. What’s going on?
Heiko–you will have to translate that for me! (We will not rely on the Google translator.) I know, I know, re Book 3–but you see if I am to have Book 3 out in any sort of proximity to Book 2 then I have to be working on it right now. But Book 2 will be out on 27 March in the US and 4 April in the UK/AU/NZ so it’s getting closer!
Gut! Ja! And yay for the cover, too! Very nice.
Mary, Is that pidgin German? ๐ But I do really love the cover. ๐
It’s my nonexistent German, LOL. Anyway, so proud of you.
Thank you, Mary–it’s definitely a ‘buzz!’
Congratulations, Helen! I do love that cover. It makes me wish I could read in German!
Thanks, Wen—I feel pretty much the same way!
I like the German cover !
Congratulations on getting The Heir of Night published in Germany.
Thanks, June–glad you ‘like’ re the cover!
So glad for you and all the german fantasy fans! Allready put Gathering of the lost on my to-buy-list! ๐
I am very much looking forward to ‘Die Erbin der Nacht’ being published. I know you have already read HEIR in English, so will hope you enjoy GATHERING as much.:)
