Just Arrived: “Days of Blood and Starlight” by Laini Taylor
I haven’t even gotten around to telling you that I had Laini Taylor’s Daughter of Smoke and Bone to read, let alone that I enjoyed it when I actually read it earlier this year, which is something of a mea culpa for a writer’s blog…
But never mind, I hope to make it all up to you very soon because the sequel Days of Blood and Starlight has just arrived (hurrah!) and I shall not only be reading it, but with luck, doing an interview with Laini Taylor—I would love to do one and bring it to you here but it may depend on the author’s availability as well as mine. We shall see. 😉
But in the meantime, I really like the cover—and here’s what the back cover ‘blurb’ has to say:
.
“Once upon a time, an angel and a devil fell in love and dared to imagine a world free of bloodshed and war.
This is not that world.
Art student and monster’s apprentice Karou finally has the answers she has always sought. She knows who she is–and what she is. But with this knowledge comes another truth she would give anything to undo: She loved the enemy and he betrayed her, and a world suffered for it.
In this stunning sequel to the highly acclaimed Daughter of Smoke & Bone, Karou must decide how far she’ll go to avenge her people. Filled with heartbreak and beauty, secrets and impossible choices, Days of Blood & Starlight finds Karou and Akiva on opposing sides as an age-old war stirs back to life.
While Karou and her allies build a monstrous army in a land of dust and starlight, Akiva wages a different sort of battle: a battle for redemption. For hope.
But can any hope be salvaged from the ashes of their broken dream?”

Sounds good, doesn’t it—and having enjoyed the first book, I really hope that it is!
I finally got round to reading DOSAB after getting a review copy of DOBAS.
At first it was slow but then it became gripping and I had a few ‘oh, of course!’ moments. I started Days straight after and was hooked, with more ‘I didn’t see THAT coming’ moments. My only complaint is having to wait for the third book.
it’s really good,you’ll enjoy it.
Jan, I see Days of Blood & Starlight has been getting a very positive reception everywhere, so taken together with your recommendation am hopeful that I shall enjoy it as much as Daughter of Smoke & Bone. I am keen to get onto it very soon.:)
