So What Are You Reading?
So yesterday I talked about having haveย Frost Burned, the very latest in Patricia Briggs‘ Mercy Thompson urban fantasy series as the latest ‘hot off the press’ item on my TBR table.
But how about you? What are you reading right now, or hoping to get to soon on your ‘to-be-read’ table?
And any hot tips for your best read so far for 2013?
Helen
Currently HG Wells ‘The War in the Air’.. lovely ‘authentic’ steampunk (you can interpret ‘authentic’ any way you fancy really…LOL)
Kind regards
Robin
Of course, when Wells was writing it might not have seemed so “punk”—he was, after all, writing in the age of steam… But I suspect that is exactly what you mean by “authentic.” ๐
Hello,
I’m just starting ‘Something Wicked this Way Comes” by Ray Bradbury, which I’m really looking forwards to, as I loved his short stories. I’ve just finished the last book in the Wretched of Muirwood series by Jeff Wheeler. I think you might like the Muirwood ones – epic fantasy with a rich background in medieval history. Fairly new author I think and some of the writing is kind of awkward in places, but the characters are interesting, and the author doesn’t shy away from his good guys making some pretty dark choices.
Cheers
Shona
I hope you enjoy the Bradbury, I think Something Wicked this Way Comes is meant to be one of his classics.
The Muirwood does sound really interesting: I’ve never seen it here yet but will look out for it more actively.:)
Etiquette and Espionage by Gail Carriger.
Just finished it. Very enjoyable to read. It is YA, but perfectly suitable for grown-up readers too. Anyone who liked her Parasol Protectorate series is probably going to like this too.
‘Etiquette and Espionage’ is one I am keen to check out, June, and I think with stories like the Parasol Protectorate the line between YA and Adult blurs quite a lot.
Gee… Seems my eyes are falling out of my head as I try and keep up with my TBR pile ๐
Just finished…
Wheel of time – a memory of light
Patrick Rothfuss – wise man’s fear
Alan Garner – the weirdstone of Brisingamen
Ripley Patton – GhostHand
In progress…
Kim Stanley Robinson – Red Mars
Jo Nesbo – The Redbreast
Ripley Patton – Over the rim
To be read…
Ray Bradbury – The Small Assassin. An all time favourite collection ๐
Waiting to be written…
Helen Lowe – Book 3 in the heir of night series.
Wow, Mark–I hope that’s your TBR table and not what you’re reading at once!
As for the last entry: entirely no pressure, of course! ๐
private by James Patterson
Anticipation by Tanya Moir
Vampire Diaries: Destiny Rising by LJ Smith
Fallen in Love by Lauren Kate
and as a treat when my assignment is done;

It’s an interesting/diverse list: are you reviewing the first four, Jan?
Yes I am Slow going with the James Patterson. He just co-writes and puts his nae on the cover now They’ve lost their quality of writing.
Tanya Moir is a NZ writer – Dunedin I think.
