The Author Gets Her Buzz On
It seems amazing to think that it was way back in July when I posted “And So It Begins — Again”, marking the official beginning of the current work in progress: The Chaos Gate, The Wall Of Night Book Four.
Since then there have been a few intervening events, such as releasing the new US covers for the series and proofing Daughter Of Blood—and it’s amazing how time slips by when there’s plenty happening.
Nonetheless, work on The Chaos Gate has been chugging away in the background—and I have been excited these past few days to experience a sudden flowering of ideas around the larger plot and key characters, and feeling the story starting to open up in a really quite “buzzy” way.
So much so that I even had my notebook in my pocket while gardening, so as not to miss anything important that might suddenly crop up (no pun intended, he-he.)
While being fully aware that not all the potential ideas I’m capturing now will necessarily come to pass, mainly because characters alter and grow in response to the evolving story, it is exciting to feel the possibilities unfolding and building, both on each other and the established story arc.
What more can I say, except “onwards.” (Strikes theatrical pose, uncaps pen and points it—well, at the page is generally best… 😉 )
